I’ve been lucky to lead an interesting life that has inspired passions in many different areas while striving to stay rooted in service, love, and creativity.

I was born in the Dominican Republic to Carmen Lucia and Marino, and we moved to New York City to create our home in Inwood, Manhattan, when I was one year old. Several years later, my sister Lillyana joined the family and we were raised along with our cousins in Brooklyn and Washington Heights. My dad and uncles worked in bodegas, and my mom pursued her studies in social work and went on to work at renowned nonprofit organizations throughout the city. My maternal grandmother, Thelma, played a fundamental role in my upbringing as our matriarch and vestige of our family history.

During my childhood in New York, I took dance classes with the National Dance Institute and was accepted into their advanced team to train under the legendary Jacques d’Amboise and Ellen Weinstein, performing all over the country and on TV. I was even featured in the New York Times after performing on Broadway!

I attended great public schools, including Mott Hall in Harlem, until I got a scholarship through the Teak Fellowship to study at Phillips Academy Andover in Massachusetts.

At Andover, my budding interest in media, entertainment, and politics began to take root with my participation in student government, theater, dance, and becoming the general manager of the campus radio station WPAA. I probably got a bit too distracted with my activities and should have focused more on my studies, but I still got into the George Washington University in Washington DC, where I majored in English and Film Studies as well as political science just by living in the nation’s capital.

The stories of my rich professional life and many projects are seen in other areas on this site, but spending time on who I am as a human being is equally as important.

I lived in California for the last decade and recently moved back to NYC to begin a new chapter. I try to balance providing for my family, who have sacrificed so much to get me to where I am, with pursuing my creative ambitions.

I give back by being an active member of my sober community and serving on the boards of nonprofits dealing with hunger and LGBTQ rights.

And I’m motivated by increasing the quality of diverse representation in entertainment and government, and building a sustainable future through innovation that protects the health of this planet and the human race.

I love nature, space, learning about different cultures, and trying new cuisines. Music from almost every genre runs through my veins and expresses itself through dance and visualizations in my quiet moments. Art of all types also fascinates me in how it can infinitely reflect the world.

My honest hope is to play a small part in all of this, imbued by the values instilled by my upbringing and inspired by all of my life experiences.

Now, onto the journey.
